Chicago trip!

Last week Ashton, Alissa, my mother-in-law Shriley and I flew to Chicago to visit my mom's side of the family. We had a wonderful trip! The flight was smooth, Ashton and cousin Alissa did so well! We spent precious time with the great-grandparents and great Uncle Les and went sight seeing downtown. Ashton and Alissa had their first boat rides on Lake Michigan too! It was a memorable time and I can't wait to get back there with more if the family. Below is a generational picture of the family. From left to right we have: Ashton, Great-grandma Rose, Great-grandpa Moe, me, Great-Uncle Les and Alissa. This is def one for the photo album!

My new favorite piece of baby gear!

I just had to post this picture because I absolutely love this baby sling! It's a Peanut Shell sling and can hold babies up to 35 lbs. Ashton loves it too! He can be close to me while I'm doing all kinds of stuff: shopping, doing things around the house, going to the park, picking up DOG POOP...you get the picture! LOL! Point is, I love this sling and highly recommend it! We also have the Baby Bjorn, which is great, but not quite as easy/practical for quick uses as the sling. Enjoy!

He's so comfy in there and I'm comfy wearing it!

Ashton's First Party

Well, here is a current photo of the family. It was taken at a friends son's birthday, making it Ashton's first party! We were very excited for him! My sister and her family also joined us, which made the day that much more enjoyable! There's nothing better than a gorgeous Saturday at the park with people you love!

It's BUMBO time!

Here's my little man at almost eight weeks old! I can't believe he's gotten so big so fast! We put him in his bumbo the other day to see if he would be able to sit up and voila! Here is his! We did have to put a few pillows behind his head to keep it from falling back but we're very proud! I tried to catch him smiling but I wasn't fast enough. He was actually entranced by the TV here!

So in love!

Every time I see that gummy little smile, my heart literally melts! The first time he smiled I was changing his diaper on the sofa making the usual silly faces and sounds, then suddenly there it was! I nearly cried it was so cute! The other day I went out for a much needed spa day (thanks honey!) and left him with grammy (Chris’s mom). When I came home, he looked at me and gave a huge, knowing grin! He knows who I am! Moms, I know you’ll agree, there is nothing more heart warming than your little one’s smile and recognition.

Thanks Mom!

We were recently able to make some home improvements with the help from my mom. She always said if she could, she would "do this and that" to her childrens homes. So, when my sister and I recieved out inheritance, we decided what better way to honor my mom's wishes than to do just that! Chris and I were able to put new carpet upstairs, install hardwood downstairs, get new windows and FINALLY a new front door! In addition, we purchased a new sofa and dining table. I wish I had before photos to compare how blah and empty our house was before. My mom would be so happy and proud; I think she would have moved right in! Thank you mom for giving us the opportunity to make our house a HOME! I love you!

The front of our house.
The door used to be scraped metal with bits of red paint thanks to handy husband, Chris. But now, we have a nice, even colored, fiberglass door!
